Dr. Hai Kim Bui
Graduated from the University of Liège (ULg) and
is currently a family medicine practitioner in Liège, Belgium. She is
the principal initiator and motivator of many health related
programs in Vietnam, and serves as liaison through which many health
projects are channeled there. She has developed an extensive network of
collaborators in Vietnam, and is the person the local authorities trust
to set up different medical programs in Vietnam. In recognition of her hard work home and abroad Dr. Hai Kim Bui received the title of Ambassador for the Provincial Government of Liège in 2010.

Dr. Michel Meurisse
Graduated from the ULg and is currently
Professor and Head of Abdominal and Transplant Surgery at the ULg. Dr.
Meurisse has established an efficient program for renal transplantation
at Hospital 115 in Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC). He travels regularly to
HCMC to perform the transplant surgeries while medical staff at
Hospital 115 coordinates the pre- and post-operative management. Up
to 30 renal transplants have been performed in this manner. He also
represents ULg in collaborative programs with the Department of Health
in HCMC, and in the planning and construction of the Medical Center
& Village of the HCMC School of Medicine in Cu Chi.

Dr. Didier Giet
Graduated from the ULg and is currently
Professor and Chair of the Department of General Medicine there. Dr.
Giet and Dr. Bui together have successfully established the
infrastructure (education, training, and clinics) for a program in
family practice in the district of Cu Chi, 60 km west of HCMC. This is
network is a joint program partnering ULg and the Deparmtent of Health of HCMC.

Dr. Natzi Sakalihasan
Graduated from ULg and is currently
Professor of Cardiovascular Surgery there. He has also established a
thriving program for Cardiac Surgery at Hospital 115 in HCMC. He
perform surgeries at the Hospital regularly, and has provided training
to local surgeons, cardiologists, anesthetists, resuscitators, and
nurses. Approximately 30 heart surgeries have been performed to date.

Dr. Toan Nguyen
Graduated from the University of Chicago and is
currently Professor of Medicine and Acting Head of the Gastroenterology
Division at the University of Washington, Seattle, Washington. In 2005 Dr. Nguyen and Dr. Bui were the only physicians invited to a symposium organized by the Vietnamese Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Industry to elicit opinions and collaboration of Vietnamese
expatriates for the re-building of Vietnam. Dr. Nguyen is advising and
helping GI programs in Vietnam, particularly at Thai Nguyen Medical
College in HCMC. A recipient of the 2007 Award for Excellence in
Medicine from the Vietnamese American Medical Research Foundation, he
is helping the Foundation navigate through its early stages, and hopes
to raise awareness and facilitate the involvement of different US
organization in the different health programs the Foundation supports.
